In all things-glorify God
I start each day in prayer and on the rare occasions when it is not the first thing I do, I remedy it the first chance I get. Each day starts with a prayer of thanks. I say aloud prayers of praise and thanksgiving, even on the days it may not feel like I have much to praise (there is always something!) I then pray for protection, discernment, and guidance in all that I do. I pray that in every encounter that I listen to God’s direction. “if anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:11, NIV). Lately, I have been even more intentional. Just as it states in the verse, I pray that God not only give me discernment, but that He give me the right words to speak and lead all my actions. How is that for admitting we cannot control anything? It is not in our hands, but God’s hands.
Rob and I both have shared numerous times in our lives where we would lead a Bible study or have an encounter with a stranger where our actions and words did not feel as if they were our own. I remember leading a women’s circle one evening that I had reviewed the material the hour before arriving. I was ill prepared. After we prayed, we sat in a circle, and the words poured forth. We cried, we shared, we felt God’s presence in that room. That is just one of the amazing things that can happen when we trust God and seek His guidance above all else.
I have often been asked if I always felt Godwinks, or if I think they are just happening more and more. I think they have always been there, I just don’t think my eyes were always open to see. The closer we get to God, the more we see His works in the world that surrounds us. God is and always has been present and near to us.
I love the latter part of the verse that identifies that we are to serve God by serving others with the strength that God provides. God is not asking us to do anything without Him. He offers His guidance, His protection, and His strength so we can speak and take action in His glorious name. There is nothing to fear, no need for hesitation, God is with us-go be bold!
Today, I pray that you start and end each day in prayer. I pray that you speak praise even when it is only for the smallest of things. I pray as you look back on your days, you think of all those moments where you didn’t hesitate, you trusted God when you spoke and in your actions-Glory to God.
I pray these words spoke to you and that you share with a friend. Don’t miss a blog post, subscribe to my web page.
