Godwinks everywhere

Sometimes we overlook the small things, the things that seem insignificant. Today was a day of a lot of small things that continued to remind me how God is always there. These small moments remind me that nothing is coincidence as I stand in awe of God’s miraculous creation of this perfect harmony that we call life. Each instrument playing its individual part and coming together to create music that could never be created on its own. “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or auhtorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17, NIV)

There are days when I feel God more than other days. Today was one of those days. I had my first meeting with a new teammate and after quick dialogue, he shared the top three items he wanted to cover with me. I smiled as I read my list and it was the same exact list in the same order he had his. I immediately relaxed knowing the conversation was going to go well and that God was with me. What are the odds that I would have the same exact list of critical topics less than five days into a new job with very little knowledge of current work by the team? It’s the exact thing I needed to encourage me and show me that I am where I should be. Not a coincidence, Godwink.

Today, I received a call from a friend in need. I had planned on going into my new office today, but changed my plans since I was able to go in yesterday afternoon. So, when that call came, I was home and able to help in a critical time for a dear friend. I’m a safe space for her where she knows there will never be any judgement or criticism, just support and love…exactly what she needed today. Not a coincidence, Godwink.

This evening, Rob and I went for our normal walk with our pups. Since it has been so cold, we have been going to the end of the neighborhood and turning around. Tonight, I said we should take the longer route we used to take in warmer days. On our way back from that route, we ran into a dear friend and chatted about things at the forefront of her mind. As I sat there listening while her and Rob talked, I thought about all the small things that happened along this journey to bring us to this conversation. All these pieces had to fall in place, to include a detour on a routine walk, to bring us to this exact moment and place. Not a coincidence, Godwink.

Finally, how did my day end? I checked my mail and there was my Biblical Certificate in Theology from Liberty University. Another affirmation that God is with me on this path. They may seem like small things, and maybe they are, but they are all Godwinks. Seeing and feeling God’s presence doesn’t have to only happen with miraculous healing or major events, it’s in the small things in our everyday.

Today, I pray you open your eyes and see the Godwinks in the small things. I pray that you celebrate those moments and seek God in all things, He is always there.
