God wants a personal relationship with you

So many moments to share today! Someone asked me if God is more active now than in the past or if I am seeing God in more things now that I have a relationship with God. I personally think the answer is yes to both. Everyday I find more and more people that are open about their faith and willing to talk openly where many used to be cautious. I also see God at work in ways that I overlooked in the past. I had a couple of those moments today. It was a hectic day- it started early and I had to travel for work which always puts an additional stress on the day. When I landed at the airport, my stress level was high as I was trying to figure out where I was going for my first meeting realizing I was already late. When they gave me the keys to my vehicle at the rental agency, I walked up and down the lot looking for my crossover pushing the lock button to see if I could find it. The vehicle that beeped at me was far from a crossover SUV, it was a full leather luxury Expedition. I could barely climb in and it was more vehicle than I needed! I returned the key and traded for a smaller vehicle. As I loaded the vehicle and turned on the car-remember, I was late before I started and had to exchange vehicles, praise music began to fill the vehicle. I just smiled and whispered a thank you God for reminding me that He was there. Godwink.

At the conclusion of my meeting, I went to check in at my hotel. As I was checking in, a nice lady provided the keys and I noticed she had a miniature Jesus next to her computer. I had one at home on my nightstand. As I was riding the elevator up to my room, I felt a nudge to go back and talk to her…so I did. I came back downstairs with a business card and told her I noticed her Jesus. I thanked her and shared that I am a Christian author and thought she could use a kind word and told her to have a Blessed night. She responded that she needed that. As I met with my team and shared the story, a teammate shared that she had witnessed a co-worker treating her poorly and speaking to her harshly as she was learning her role. I didn’t know that when I came back down, but God did. Godwink.

When I think about how my relationship with God has evolved, I compare it to those wonderful gym memberships many of us get as we try to meet all our New Year’s resolutions. For months, I would pay for a membership and never step through the door. I also joined a group of women in my neighborhood called Females in Action (FiA) where we would rotate who would lead the workout. It is free, it is outdoors, and there are no commitments or expectations. I would wake up and go to those workouts in the early morning hours, rain or shine. Why would I go to those and not to the gym? I had a relationship with those women. I knew that someone I cared for took the time to put together a workout. My showing up wasn’t just for me, it was about both of us. It was the relationship that mattered, not the workout.

God says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with the person, and they with me” (Rev. 3:20, NIV). He just wants us to open the door. He wants to come in and eat and be in fellowship with us, not just when we need Him, but at all times. When you open the door, your eyes will be opened to His wonders in all things.

Today, I pray that when you hear that knock that you open the door. I pray that you say yes to that relationship and that you then share that fellowship with others.
