Trust in the Lord and be Blessed
Today was one of those days where all the pieces seemed to fall into place. I mean all the pieces. My back felt the best it has in weeks; we finally found a new hire at work that we have been seeking for months; the final documents needed for our new home all came in today; and the girls cleared all the items needed to get enrolled in their new school. Days like today are rare and deserve to be fully appreciated. Throughout this moving process I have spent countless hours in thoughtful prayer wondering if we are doing the right thing. Questioning if the timing is best for the girls, for the family. Today was full of affirmations as doors flew open that we are on the right path. I’ve shared that Proverbs is often my go to for quick words of wisdom and guidance. This verse seemed fitting, “Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord” (Proverbs 16:20, NIV).
Maybe it’s just me, but I bet you have felt the same sometime in your life. There have been seasons in my life when I knew I was doing the right thing. I knew that I was continuing to follow God’s guidance but things became harder and harder. When I had started down that path, things fell in place, it was easy. Then, one day, years later what used to come with ease now felt draining. What brought me joy in the past, brought nothing but anxiety and stress. Even with this change, I kept moving forward determined and knowing that was what God wanted me to do. After all, He is the one that led me to this place. I learned the hard way that a path created and followed is not always the path you are meant to stay on throughout your life. Seasons change, our calling changes. I have lived in the season of abundance when things fall in place when I listen to and follow God and I have lived in the season of struggle when all I did was resistant to where God was pushing me. Looking back, I can tell you which path I prefer! Sometimes, all we need to do is sit in silence, we need to be still, and truly listen to where God guides us and when we hear, we need to obey. God promises that we will be Blessed when we trust in Him, even if it defies our own understanding.
Have you ever felt certain that you were meant to do something and found road block after road block along the way? Did you pause to reflect and seek to discern, or did you continue to drive forward like an obstinate bull determined to make it work regardless of the chaos you leave in the wake? I’ve been there. It takes intentional effort to pause, to listen, and to be still. It takes greater effort to wait for God’s time that to create my own time because of my lack of patience or my knowing I can do it better. But I can tell you after days like today that the Blessing is so much sweeter when I listen and obey. What God has in mind for me, for us, is so much better than we can create or imagine for ourselves. What’s even better? The Blessing we have here on Earth will pale in comparison to the Blessing we will have when the gates of Heaven are opened for us.
Today, I pray that you seek to be still and listen to God’s direction. I pray the you seek to obey and in doing so, Prosper in God’s plan for you.
