Darkness turns to Light
I love the way God brings people into your life just when you need it. They often don’t even realize they are the messengers of much needed words. I received one of these notes today. “You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light” (Psalms 18:28, NIV). Not only was it the perfect verse, it was a much needed devotional. It reminded me that although things may not yet look different, that light is about to break forth. It was a reminder that things will come in God’s time and that favor will then come through much more than I ever imagined. My dear friend doesn’t send me daily devotionals-we do check ins every now and then. What are the odds that this exact devotional would have come to her today and that she would think to send it to me? Godwink.
It reminded me that we do not recognize light without darkness. The enemy wants us to only recognize the darkness, but darkness means that light will be coming-just as the night turns to day. We don’t stop being prayerful and believing in the night so we should not stop being prayerful and believing in darkness. Just as we know the sun will rise tomorrow, God’s light will shine through the darkness-just believe.
I love the way little affirmations always seem to find there way in to give you that bit of strength or nudge that you need to keep moving forward, to keep believing. Yesterday one of my girls told me that I am a great mommy…unsolicited and without seeking anything in return, just sharing words of love and thanks for being a good mommy. Today, my oldest daughter met me for a walk and said the same. When I walked into my appointment after, I shared that there is nothing that can steal the light from my day after those two moments. It’s the little things.
You never know if a kind word, a compliment on a new outfit or hairstyle, a word of thanks, or a big hug will completely shift the outlook of someone’s day. Maybe that is the one thing they needed, in that moment, to remind them that the sun will rise tomorrow, that God’s light will always shine through the darkness.
Today, I pray that you not get lost in the darkness and instead, look towards the light. I pray that you lean in to be the light to others-you never know the change you can make in their lives.
I pray these words spoke to you, please share with a friend. Don’t miss a blog, subscribe to my web page.
