A Good Day

As I sit reflecting on the day, I can’t help but recognize that it was a good day. There wasn’t anything special, in fact, it was the simplest of days. It started with amazing photos shared of a beautiful sunrise, snuggles with one of the girls as we denied the change in time, and shopping with my girls and watching their joy as they found the special things just for them. Sunday family dinners are back with game night filled with laughter and our new house is truly feeling like a home. Like I said, nothing special, but in a way, it was all special. I made a speech yesterday and I shared that you need to identify your non negotiable. You need to prioritize the things that matter most to you and that is how you find your balance. Today, I found that balance. It was easy to prioritize family time and rest and it filled my cup like nothing else. “This is the day which the Lord hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24, KJV)

I remember a time, not too long ago, when something spectacular had to happen to make a day a good day. I would take for granted days like today, days that were simple and good. I didn’t accomplish any major goal, I didn’t focus on any specific task, I was just present in each and every moment. There were moments that I did nothing at all but sit in silence and watch the ducks swim or the leaves falling from the trees. I know as the work week starts again that I can hold on to the giggles of game night. I can look at my buttons Helena purchased so we can have matching buttons. I know that today will keep me grounded on what matters most as the chaos begins of my civilian work week, followed by speech and military duty-it’s one of those weeks.

Sundays are sometimes filled with dread of the week ahead, but not today. Not today because I took today to rest, to spend time with family and collect those moments that I can reflect back on as the week begins. What a gift.

Today, I pray you protect your Sabbath and take time to be present and rest. Rejoice and be glad in it.

I pray my words spoke to you, please share with a friend. Don’t miss a blog, subscribe to my web page.
