A Time for Constant Prayer
I recently spoke with a friend that shared that she felt overwhelmed by all the hate and things going on in the world, even in our own backyard. As I have chatted with dear friends and family lately going through health scares and asking for prayers, I can see where it all would feel overwhelming. I have been deep in prayer in recent days and continue to be in prayer. My prayer list seems to get longer every day. I know how these moments can make us doubt or feel alone-but we are never alone. God never leaves us.
In the midst of all these prayers, I have seen God moving in so many lives. My dear friend that shared about hate and feeling overwhelmed was met with absolute welcome that led to a call to worship for her daughter at a time when she needed it most. I received unexpected reimbursement for my emergency medical evacuation at a time when a dear friend needed a helping hand. A miraculous surgery that stopped imminent paralysis, a clean diagnosis from a biopsy, the list goes on. It is so easy to get lost and overwhelmed in words of hate, loss, or uncertain futures. I catch myself doing the same…and then, one of these things happens to remind me, God never leaves us.
I shared that my daughter once asked me how God could be interested in this world with all the darkness and hate that exists. He is interested in you and me. “God is our refuge and strentgh, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and form and the mountains quake with their surging” (Psalms 46:1-3, NIV)
Today I pray that you not be consumed by darkness or hate, that you see God’s light and feel His presence in your life. Today I pray that you never forget that although you may be in the middle of a storm, God is still and always will be your refuge and your strength.
