Sometimes you just need a nap
Have you ever had one of those days where you make all these amazing plans and in the end, all you do is rest? This is not my usual thing. In fact, I think many would critique me for not resting and not taking time to slow down. That is likely why when I do rest, I REST!
The girls and I had made several plans for this evening ranging from football games, to dinner, to canning and hanging out with friends. You know what we did? We napped-for hours. All of us!
It’s important that we rest, the Bible reminds us that God rested on the seventh day in the story of creation and He reminds us that the land must rest after six years of producing. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his” (Hebrews 4:9-10, NIV). Who are we to challenge what He directs?
When we woke from our “nap” and snuggles, none of us were sad about what we missed or had regrets of our choice to take some time for us. The girls, and even the pups, were as weary as me. We were just thankful for the time we had to shut everything down and close our eyes without any requirements looming over us.
Today, I pray that you take time to rest from your works. I pray that you put as much importance in resting as much as you do in works and deeds. I pray that you remind yourself, as God directs us, that we all need rest.
