Proud mom moment…and a little affirmation
Anyone that is close to me knows that I talk about our family all the time. I am quite proud of all of our kids and their unique talents and gifts.
I mentioned previously that I started our neighborhood bible study again and one of the ladies shared last week that she used to write verses and put them in her daughters’ lunch boxes. This came up as we talked about prayer and praying for our family and protection. I brought a little box of prayer cards with me that evening and they recommended I put one of those in their lunch box everyday since I shared I did not see me being able to consistently write out a verse for both the girls everyday. I took their advice and started doing it this week.
Tulips- by Helena
Today, I received a text from one of my kiddos sharing she was having a rough day and asking what she could do- it warmed my heart that she reached out and I immediately gave her words of comfort and gave her some ideas of what to do.
My day was hectic and one of those days where all my worlds seem to collide. The good news is it makes the day go fast. I also received a notification that I was not selected for a special writer’s workshop with Guidepost-not the best day for me either. And then, it became the perfect day. When my daughter got home, she handed me a beautiful water color she did in her art class of my favorite flower, tulips. At the bottom right, she placed a bible verse and shared she had gone back to my blog to find a verse I would like. I don’t think my day could have ended better.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV). The comfort my daughter and I both shared today all began with a simple verse in a lunchbox from the “God of all comfort”.
Today, I pray that you seek comfort from God when you are troubled. I pray that your life be surrounded with people that are willing to share a little verse or take a moment to provide a word of comfort founded in Christ when needed. Today, I pray you do the same for those around you.
