Pass the Flame
Today I had the opportunity to visit a friend’s church and was moved by the entire message, but this one part resonated with me. One of the topics was focused on passing the flame, the legacy we leave for generations to come regarding our faith and how God is present with us. This is not accomplished by only words, but in how we live our lives for others to see. Then he shared these simple words- your light never diminishes by lighting someone else’s flame-pass the flame. He shared a story of how their church went completely dark and how from one candle, all the other candles in the congregation were lit. From darkness, there came light and the first candle, the one used to start the passing of the flame did not diminish.
God’s “word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalms 119:105, NIV). Throughout the Bible the term lamp identifies God’s presence both in the temple and later symbolizing the presence of Jesus in and around the seven churches in the Book of Revelation. We are called to share the light of God by sharing His glory and His truth.
Today, I pray that you not hesitate to pass the flame. I pray that, as I stated yesterday, you be bold in your faith and share this legacy for generations to come.

I just checked Cristina. I sent you my email on Tuesday, September 30th on how this sermon worked in my life. I had no idea two days prior you’d written this blog post! So we both felt what was going on in the room. Confirmation!!

It is amazing to see how God works in our lives. That day was clearly orchestrated by our Father.
