Where it all began

I am enjoying writing the blog when inspired as well as submitting multiple works for publication consideration. I am thankful for the doors that are being opened but I realized today that I missed where it all began.

The blog inspiration came from a simple text exchange with one person where we would give encouragement daily to study and spend intentional time with God. It continued to blossom to a small group of women that I connected through work, personal, and military. Today, I realized I missed that intimate connection.

I love blogging, more than I would have thought when I started, since I have tried to unsuccessfully journal for years! I love when I get messages, replies, or likes as well as when people reach out directly about something they read. All of that does not replace the interaction of this small group of women and how a simple text, a simple reminder, could impact my day.

So today, I sent them all a note and let them know I missed them. I will not be able to write the long devotionals that I used to and will leverage my blog for that communication, but it doesn’t limit me from a check in and sharing of a verse with our little text group.

Maybe you have a connection that you recently lost or that has gone stale that you miss. Today I pray that you reach out - maybe the connection changes a little like mine, but it doesn’t limit us from staying in touch. Today I pray that you maintain those important relationships at all times so you can be there for each other in difficult times. “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24, NIV)- be the friend that is closer than a brother.
