A moment of thanks
Today, as we celebrate the Sabbath, I wanted to give a word of thanks. Without seeking, I received affirmation from those around me today.
It started with church today when someone shared that they not only enjoy reading the blog, but reading how I bring God into everything I do without hesitation. Although I appreciated the compliment, I told her that was not always the case. There is not only a movement around us, there is a movement, a push in me and I know who the one is doing the nudging.
I later received a wonderful gift from someone thankful I made it off that mountain and that God has more for me to do. Yes he does!
I then had a chance to spend time with one of our units readying for a mobilization to our Southwest Border. There is nothing more humbling than standing before a room full of soldiers and their families knowing their lives are getting ready to be turned upside down yet they all stand ready to serve when called. One of my soldiers shared that he reads my blog and uses “little nuggets” when he speaks to others and finds it inspirational.
I wish I could lay claim to what drove all these affirmations, but it is all due to God. I am not being overly humble or seeking more compliments- it is simply fact that it is not me alone.
Everyday, in the evening, I open my computer and pause and reflect. My hands rest on the keyboard and I quickly know if today is a day for me to share or if it is a day of silence. I don’t craft my message, I don’t plan out my blog, I simply sit in silence and listen. I reflect on the day and all that happened and I wait. If my words speak to you, it is God speaking to you through me. If my blog encourages you to share and become more outspoken, it is not me, that is God encouraging you to be bold in your faith.
Today, I pray that you take that step in faith if you feel that calling, that nudge. If you see me speaking about God everywhere and you wish you could, go do it. If you feel inspired to share your testimony with others and be excited for God, go do it. Take that step in faith. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10, NIV).
