Not a chance meeting

It never fails to awe me when I see God working in our lives. This week was another one of those moments, just not for me. Like many around us, the New Year always leads to a refocus on physical goals and activities. Rob and I had a head start and started down this journey prior to our Mt. Kilimanjaro hike, but he decided he wanted to start F3 again. F3 is a men’s group focused on Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith that launched in Charlotte, NC. He reached out to a dear friend and fellow F3 member that, through Rob’s hike on the Appalachian Trail and recent adventures, he had not spoken to in quite awhile. He contacted him to re-engage with F3, but the results of that “chance meeting” for coffee was so much greater than a morning workout.

Many of you know that I still serve in the military. What some may not know is that my husband served as well. He retired from the Army after serving a tour in Desert Shield Desert Storm, two tours in Iraq, and a tour in Afghanistan. He is the definition of a modern hero. With heroism comes much sacrifice and that sacrifice often impacts the soldier on a deeper level than many of us will ever see. I am thankful and blessed that Rob is now on the other side of that battle. When he contacted his friend, he quickly found out that although apart, they had been traveling down some similar paths. This shared journey led to the start of what I know will not only impact other lives, but save countless lives. I can’t wait to see what these two will build. That was not a chance meeting, that was a Godwink!

When we get these nudges, we have to listen. What my husband thought was for one thing, God meant for another. We don’t always know the why of these nudges, and we may never know. When we see all the dots connecting it is nothing short of miraculous how all the pieces fall together to create this perfect harmony-that’s God.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV). I love this verse! Not only are we God’s handiworks, He already knows why we are created and He has already orchestrated and prepared everything to fall in place to enable us to do His work…we just have to walk the path He lays before us.

Today, I pray that when you feel those nudges, you move forward without hesitation. I pray that you trust God in all things and that even when you cannot see the destination, you take your leap of faith on the path God has laid out for you.
