Just a couple of Godwinks…

This week was full of Godwinks and affirmations for me and for those around me. It may seem like simple little things, but I find myself looking for and finding these moments. As we discussed in our neighborhood Bible study this week, the closer you build a relationship with God, the more likely you are to see these moments.

I was watching a show on tv the other night and it was a silly scene that reminded me of a time when Rob and I used to just chat-not about anything in particular or the worry of the world or what needs to be done, but just chatting. As I watched I thought about how nice that would be, every now and then, to just chat. I prayed about it the next morning and then I received my call. We were running errands and going in every direction on Saturday, but somehow along the day, he called just to chat. And chat we did! I think it was the longest call we have ever had. Godwink.

A dear friend visited a new church and received an affirmation on that day. He had been praying for a sign that this would be the church and he received that affirmation when the service centered around passing the flame which is the same image he had in his mind for the past weeks as he continued to seek a new church home. I am excited to see him write about it and have encouraged him to share his testimony- he is an amazing author. Today, he received additional affirmation when he ran into a co-worker at the same church. Godwink.

My blog yesterday on the power of love was part of the topic discussed today in church and my mom shared that our neighborhood Bible study, where we discussed praying to God and having conversation with Him versus asking for things, is the topic discussed in her church this morning. Any of this sound familiar? Conversing without worrying about what needs to be done or worry and not asking for anything, just having a conversation? If this helps us build our relationship with God, why would it not also help us grow our relationships with each other? As far as love goes, what if we let the power of love lead us in all things-imagine how accepting of others and the increase in relationships we would have if we centered on that versus the flaws we see in each other? Godwinks.

Today, I pray that, as you celebrate the Sabbath, that you take time to look around you and be open to those Godwinks that surround us. I pray that in all things, you seek God first and that in the coming week you just have a conversation with Him-go build that relationship.
