100 bad days

I love the moments I get to share with my family. Tonight was one of those moments. The girls have introduced me to a band, AJR. If you don’t know who they are, go take a listen. I went with them to a concert last year and was amazed at the showmanship, lyrics, and professionalism of this trio. It made an easy yes when Hope asked to go see them again this year.

One of my favorite songs is 100 bad days- it is so well written and I think it speaks to all ages. “A hundred bad days made a hundred good stories, A hundred good stories make me interesting at parties.” What an outlook on life- Imagine if we took all the bad, all the difficult, and saw it for what it is- just part of our story.

Between the Life of Pi earlier this week, and this AJR concert, two common themes. Do you choose the story of laughter and being “interesting” or do you focus on the bad and lose sight of the part it had to play in making you who you are today- and that person is pretty amazing.

I shared before that in my chats with Helena when she asks me why I believe in God, I have told her of the peace and comfort I get from God alone. I think today- I will tell her that God helps me see the 100 interesting stories that came from what could have simply been bad days.

Today I pray that you look at those tough moments, those bad days, and see the part it plays in making you. I pray that you be intentional and make those amazing family moments happen- they’re important and time is precious. Go be interesting at parties!
